A dog in the village of Lokia, 30 kilometers east of Fiji's capital Suva on Monday, May 8, 2006, waits for its owner to cast his vote in the nations general election. Lokia is an all Fijian village of some 250 with about 150 ethnic Indians, mostly farmers and fishermen living in a settlement on the outskirts. The general elections in this racially divided South Pacific nation which observers fear could trigger the fourth coup in a decade, started Saturday May 6, 2006, which due to the vastness of the 300 islands with inhabitance on more that one third of them will end Saturday May 13, 2006.
