Two bright yellow CALM mental health posters displayed in a pub gents toilet, using beer glass imagery and pub-friendly language to encourage men and friends to check in with one another. The left poster carries the headline “Cheers to Checking In” and says CALM and Stonegate have joined forces to celebrate getting together with mates, sharing good times and recognising when someone may be struggling. The right poster reads “Help CALM be there for everyone whose glass feels half empty” and explains that Campaign Against Living Miserably is a suicide prevention charity that supports anyone struggling to stay in the game for another day. The setting is important because the message appears in a male social space where some people may feel more able to notice a friend’s low mood, loneliness, anxiety, depression, money worries or change in behaviour. The visible text, pint glass graphics, QR code and donation message make the image suitable for editorial use around suicide prevention, men’s mental health, peer support, pub culture, charity awareness, hospitality venues, social connection and public health communication. Stonegate Group announced a two-year partnership with CALM in 2026, with CALM messaging appearing across pubs, bars and venues through in-venue signage and digital screens. The photograph can support stories about how charities reach people outside clinical settings, how informal conversations can reduce isolation, and how pubs can be used as community spaces for awareness campaigns. It also has relevance for workplace wellbeing, hospitality social responsibility, fundraising, mental health stigma, early intervention, support for mates, and the idea that asking a simple question in an everyday setting may help someone feel less alone. The image should be handled sensitively, avoiding sensational language, and framed around support, prevention, hope and practical human connection.
