Altre informazioni:
No date is given as to when the bridge was built but this has been a crossing here since at least the 17th century and possible even earlier. The crossing was for people, animals and horse drawn carts therefore possibly leading to the name of Cartford Bridge. The bridge is owned by a Private Limited Company that was incorporated in 1929 the company being called Cartford Bridge Company (The) Limited. In 1960 and 2005 there were moves to get Lancashire County Council to take over the bridge and make it free to cross but this never happened and the bridge is still one of the few toll bridges left in the Northwest of England. The bridge is situated on the north side of the A586 in Little Eccleston and crosses the river Wyre into the area of Out Rawcliffe. This is a rural agricultural area that also includes several other villages and is known locally as Over Wyre.
