The Royal Horse Artillery (RHA), 'A' troop re-enactment unit are members of the Anglesey Hussars, who ride cavalry as the 7th Hussars. Initially formed for the members of the unit that were unable to ride, A troop has become an artillery troop which is able to operate two British field pieces with full crew compliments. Raised in 1793, the RHA was created to provide fast moving fire support for the cavalry, with all gunners either mounted or riding upon limber or battery vehicles. Initially armed with 6pdr field guns, the effectiveness and success of the RHA resulted in ongoing development and trials. By 1815, a large percentage of the 6pdr guns had been replaced by 9pdr guns. At the Battle of Quatre-Bras on 16 June 1815, a squadron of 7th Hussars charged the enemy several times until the squadron of 120 officers and men was reduced to 19. On 18 June, the 7th were on the right of the allied line, north of Hougoumont. They charged more than twelve times loosing 2 Officers killed, and 11 wounded 62 other ranks killed and 109 wounded. the 7th's Colonel, Lord Uxbridge, lost his leg to enemy artillery. The descendants of the 7th Hussars are the Queens Royal Hussars, the senior Light Cavalry Regiment of the British Army .
