For my A2 project on Nature I decided to capture the starlings roosting over the Somerset levels. Using the BBC nature watch website and hot line i was able to grasp an idea to were the starlings would most likely be roosting that evening. Ten's of thousands of starlings swarm the sky as the sun is setting moving at great speed with unpredictable actions. Unfortunately there wasn't any birds of prey in sight which would make the pack swarm together forming tight swirls of almost black abstract shapes in the sky. Using a telephoto lens on my Canon 1000D I was able to quickly pan across the increasingly dimming scene and capture a few nice panoramic images. Many photographers spend year after year in hope of capturing great images as it involves skill, preparation and much patience. I was lucky enough to grab this image and two others like it from one shoot however.
