Design student, Sophie (20), is a big fan of Valentine's Day but she felt that a store-bought card would be too impersonal for her special 'crush', this year. As a fan of The Great British Bake Show, it occurred to her that she could maybe put her 'heart' in a tart or, better still, into a tasty sponge cake! As Sophie has found, to her cost, you have to handle your cake with care or you could end up with broken heart. If you'd like to send your secret love a special message, why not follow Sophie's example and 'Say It With Flour(s)' ? See method, below, METHOD 1. Make up your usual sponge mix and divide in two. 2. Colour one half pink and bake in a loaf tin. 3. When cooled, carve the shape of a heart, lengthways ( like the letters in a stick of rock) 4. Put about a third of the reserved mix into a clean loaf tin. Gently lay the heart-shaped pink sponge on top. Carefuly add the rest of the mix, to cover the heart. Use cocktail sticks to keep upright if necessary ( you can remove them after baking). 5. Bake as before.
