Grande tributo artistico di strada di MurWalls alle star degli sport da combattimento di Liverpool Paddy Pimblett e Molly McCann, con lo slogan ‚La Nostra Gente, La Nostra Città, Il Nostro Cuore‘
A large street-art mural on a terraced house in Goldie Street, beside Walton Lane in Liverpool, celebrates two of the city’s best-known combat-sports personalities, Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett and Molly ‘Meatball’ McCann. The black, white and grey artwork, enlivened by a vivid blue top and red glove, shows the Liverpool fighters in fighting poses beneath the words ‘Our People, Our City, Our Heart’. Commissioned by street-art company MurWalls and painted over three days, the mural was officially unveiled on 20 April 2023 with both fighters present. Its location between Liverpool FC’s Anfield stadium and Everton FC’s Goodison Park gives the work extra local resonance: Pimblett is a Liverpool supporter, while McCann is closely associated with Everton. Both trained at Next Generation MMA in Liverpool and became prominent figures in the UFC during a surge of British interest in mixed martial arts. Pimblett, born in Liverpool and raised in Huyton, remains an active UFC lightweight; in 2026 he rebounded from a January points defeat to Justin Gaethje in an interim-title fight by submitting Benoit Saint Denis in the first round at UFC 329 in July. McCann, from Liverpool’s Norris Green area, retired from MMA after UFC London in March 2025 and subsequently returned to her original sport of boxing, winning her professional debut later that year and continuing her boxing career into 2026. The mural’s slogan echoes McCann’s strong identification with her home city and is associated with Jamie Webster’s song ‘This Place’. The image documents Liverpool’s distinctive culture of public sporting murals, local pride and contemporary street art, while linking football territory, MMA, UFC fandom and the city’s tradition of celebrating home-grown sporting figures on neighbourhood walls. Painted directly onto the dark brick gable, the work turns an ordinary residential wall into a landmark for fight fans, linking sport, identity, community and urban culture in modern Liverpool.
