Pipes for new Desal Link in Santa Barbara, California stored at the closed Sears parking lot in Santa Barbara. The Desal Link project will connect key community water sources by installing an underground pipeline between the Charles E. Meyer Desalination Plant and water mains connected to the Carter Water Treatment Plant. This new pipeline will enable desalinated water to reach our entire service area while enhancing system resiliency and improving water quality. It appears that the new pipes will be put underground down Garden Street, Olive Street, Sola Street and Calle Ceser Chavez to the desalination plant. This will mean that people living on those streets and driving on them will experience a severe disruption during the process. However, in the end the security of water, even in a drought will offset any inconvenience.
