THE POLISH AIR FORCE IN BRITAIN, 1940-1947 - Ten months old Marian Edward, held by his mother Audrey Bełc (née Stephenson), receiving his late father's DFC from Air Commodore W. H. Dunn during an award ceremony at RAF Grangemouth, 21 September 1942. The pilot standing far right in the group in the background is Flight Lieutenant Stanisław Brzeski, also of No. 58 OTU. A 10 month old baby was the central figure at a ceremonial parade at RAF Grangemouth on 21 September 1942. The child - Marian Edward Bełc, son of Pilot Officer Marian Bełc - received the Distinguished Flying Cross awarded to his father, killed in a flying accident before he could himself receive the decoration.P/O Bełc served in No. 303 Polish Fighter Squadron; he was posted to No. 58 OTU at RAF Grangemouth and then to No. 3 Flight Instructors Course at RAF Babdown Farm.On 27 August 1942 while flying a training sortie (with the instructor Flight Lieutenant Maurice Henry Holder RAF) in Miles Master III (W8664) plane their aircraft crashed for unknown reason.
