Altre informazioni:
Interior detail of an historic memorial ledger stone inside St Mary’s Church, Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The photograph shows a close view of a dark floor gravestone with a crisply carved inscription commemorating Margaret, widow of Captain Lovelace Gylby, who died on 13 March 1790 aged 82 years. This image works as a documentary record of ecclesiastical heritage, Georgian funerary art, parish church history, memorial inscriptions, carved lettering, and the survival of personal remembrance within one of Beverley’s best known medieval churches. The strong contrast between pale incised stone and darker surrounding slab highlights the craftsmanship of the mason, the formal language of commemoration, and the enduring visual power of church floor monuments in old English places of worship. St Mary’s Church in Beverley is a major historic parish church with origins around 900 years ago and is widely noted for its outstanding architecture and artwork, making this kind of internal memorial detail relevant to themes of religion, local history, genealogy, ancestry, death records, burial customs, heritage tourism, East Yorkshire identity, and conservation of sacred interiors. The wording on the stone, set out in bold capital letters, adds strong graphic character and suits search themes such as engraved text, epitaph, church monument, church floor slab, old stonework, historic church interior, and English heritage site. Useful editorial concepts include remembrance, mortality, eighteenth century social history, church archaeology, carved stone typography, family lineage, widowhood, and the quiet atmosphere of an ancient church interior in Beverley, Yorkshire.
