Altre informazioni:
It is a 110m span steel cable stayed opening swing bridge with a 6m wide deck that carries pedestrians and cyclists from Water Row in Govan to Pointhouse Quay in Partick. It was constructed by main contractor Farrans Construction and was designed by Jacobs for Glasgow City Council. It is now one of the longest opening active travel bridges in Europe. The 650t moving span is 99m long and uses the South Pier at Water Row as its access. The fixed span weighs 45t and is 15.7m long. The bridge will be a social, environmental and economic boost as it will link not only communities but visitor attractions and institutions of national economic importance, according to the council. The crossing is also a central part of the active travel route between the University of Glasgow’s campus at Gilmorehill and the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
