The Albufera, La Albufera or L'Albufera de València, is a freshwater lagoon and estuary on the Gulf of Valencia coast of the Valencian Community in eastern Spain. It is the main portion of the Parc Natural de l'Albufera de València, with a surface area of 21, 120 hectares. The Albufera, La Albufera or L'Albufera de València (this means 'lagoon' in Valencian, and 'small sea' in Arabic) is a freshwater lagoon and estuary on the Gulf of Valencia in eastern Spain. It makes up the main part of the Parc Natural de l'Albufera de València - the 'Valencian Albufera Natural Park'. Rice has been grown here for over 1000 years on the wetlands around La Albufera, its high-quality white grains are perfect for Paella, and Valencia is where paella was invented. Rice farming is part Valencian culture
