A Shanghai man has won back his Volvo car from his ex-girlfriend in a lawsuit tried by the Jiading District Peoples Court. The man surnamed Zhao said he let his girlfriend surnamed Liu to use his iPhone, Mac laptop and a Volvo car worth 260, 000 yuan (US$41, 292) during their relationship that began in July 2011. The pair broke up in January after Lius parents insisted that Zhao must buy an apartment in order to marry with their daughter. This led to a quarrel between the two families. After their split, Liu refused to return Zhaos car, iPhone and laptop unless she was paid 30, 000 yuan in compensation. Liu told the court Zhao had given her these things as gifts. During the hearing, Zhao withdrew his demand for the iPhone and the Mac laptop due to lack of evidence, but the court ordered Liu to return the Volvo since Zhao was the car owner.
