A woman pushes her pram past a house in Millport on Great Cumbrae Island, Ayrshire, known locally as "The Wedge", which has gone on sale for 27, 000 and is in the Guinness Book of World Records as the house with the narrowest frontage in the world. *The house, with the narrowest front in the world, has been sold. Owners George and June Allison have sold the one-bedroom property on the picturesque island of Great Cumbrae, off the North Ayrshire coast, to a family from Essex who plan to use it as a holiday home. The tiny house in Millport, called The Wedge, measures just 3ft 11in, or 1.19 metres, at its narrowest point. Downstairs at the front of the house there is just enough room for the front door, while there is a single window upstairs. Mr and Mrs Allison, who bought the house around 20 years ago before its record-holding potential was realised, put The Wedge on the market for 27, 000 in May. A sale was agreed earlier this year but it was only this week that all the paperwork was completed, Mrs Allison said. She declined to reveal how much the new owners paid for the property which the Allisons decided to sell so they could have more leisure without having to look after the house which they have been renting out.
