United Kingdom /London / Best of British/ Anderson & Sheppard /Makers of bespoke tailoring and accessories/Anderson & Sheppard was established in 1906 by Swedish expatriate Per Anderson and trouser cutter Sidney Sheppard. The pair adopted the style that had become known as ‘the English Drape’ developed by Anderson’s mentor, legendary cutter Frederick Scholte, as a more comfortable alternative to the stiff constraints of military and formal dress. That technique continued in to the 21st century thanks to an unbroken transmission of skills through apprenticeships. Anderson & Sheppard now makes between 100 and 150 suits a month and employs 27 full-time staff, including seven apprentices, and 43 outside tailors.
