One more reason to visit New York : The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum has prepared an unprecedented exhibition of works by Russian artist Vasily Kandinsky. They are more than a hundred. Some belong to the museum's own collection while others come especially from institutions in Paris , Munich and private collections. Kandinsky was born in Moscow in 1944 and died in France in 1944 , was a pioneer of abstract art, also a key figure in the history of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum . His works are part of the essence of his collection and also inspired the creation of its headquarters building . Solomon R. Guggenheim began collecting fabrics Kandinsky in 1929. Ten years after his enthusiasm for the paintings of this artist led him to create the Museum of Non- Objective Painting. And when it was too small , custom Frank Lloyd Wright the current seat of Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum . The eight-story building and nearly 30 meters, was remodeled in 1992 after two years of being closed to the public and has a permanent collection of over 5, 000 works, which are works of art by Chagall , Kandinsky , Picasso, Manet , Vincent van Gogh, Joan Miró, and 200 photographs of Robert Mapplethorpe.
